About Us
Founded in 2005 by Dr. Venkatesh Naik and six committed social workers, SCODWES began with just two old chairs, a teapoy, a bag, and a shared vision of a better society. Inspired by an organization called MYRADA, where three of our founding members worked, we started with little support but immense dedication.
Today, through passion and hard work, SCODWES has grown to operate in 26 districts of Karnataka, with a team of 350+ staff serving over 4 million beneficiaries—a number that continues to grow each day.
We are guided by strong ethical values and a commitment to meaningful, impactful work. Our partners trust us, and our efforts have been recognized by beneficiaries, donors, and esteemed visitors, including the World Bank team.
Meet The Team
Dr Venkatesh L Naik
Founder and Executive Director
Dr. Venkatesh Naik is the visionary founder and executive director of SCODWES, an NGO he established in 2005 along with like-minded individuals. With a Ph.D In tribal studies, he has dedicated nearly three decades of his life to social development, especially focusing on marginalized and underprivileged communities. He also holds a master’s in social work (MSW) and a Diploma in Journalism, bringing a diverse and comprehensive approach to his work in the development sector.
His leadership and strategic vision have made SCODWES a prominent force in uplifting rural and tribal communities. He excels in building collaborations and mobilizing resources to bring about impactful results. His approach is rooted in teamwork, believing that the well-being of every individual is the cornerstone of development. Over the years, he has received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to the field.
In addition to his role at SCODWES Dr. Venkatesh Naik actively serves on various prestigious boards and committees.
